Yup, pain in the ass as the ground is rocky & loaded with iron ore and digging is restricted to hand devices. Get ready for some blisters ;)
Did you see the stack of previous permits at the office?
 

They had a very small stack, less than ten other permits. Not sure how old those permits were. The site super did tell us their was lots of slag in the area. Figured we would give it a tray as its not that far from us.
 

Give it a shot - practice your patience and slow swing techniques in high trash ground. Maybe you will find that last coin that others gave up on. Wear padded gloves if digging is hard. It will save your hands.

Thanks, i got some cheap gloves with the plastic grip nubs on them and knee pads. If nothi g else, it will be some time outdoors in the freah air with nothing else going on. I forgot its Chicago so maybe some not so fresh air.

Those are the new permits for 2013, looks like you're gonna have some competition ;)

I caled two state park places that allow md use. Seems each one has different rules.
