Will folks pay for clearing their driveways and parking lots?

hey........why not! people have made money with wierder ideas........remember the pet rock!!! what have you got to lose? at the very least you may gain some new spots to hunt.

I can imagine the owners being mad and angry if I came on scene with a jackhammer and ended up digging for a water main but what the hell it would be a good opportunity to justify buying a camcorder...
PS: My uncle lives there on frasier, good to know you

Sure is,
Frasier street in Wilmington DE where you are
I use to live in Smyrna

I know a guy who has a professional parking lot cleaning company.? He has contracts with most of the shopping centers in town and has several commercial sweeping machines plus a couple of dozen employees.? He makes a ton of $$$.? I don't think one guy with a metal detector could do much good but if you approach it from a professional cleaning point of view and there is no one doing it now, you could do real good!? Montyi

Sure you're right,
I know of a guy in FL who bought one of those crazy things and made it pay itself off in a years time!
Makes about 60/yr with one machine according to him :)

oh frasier street....thats only a few blocks from here.....right up the street! welcome to the forum! have you ever done any detecting around here?

Those sure are nice to have
Been known to destroy data.. but sure are handy

What happens if someone gets a flat tire in a lot you've been sweeping? Are you liable? I sweep my own (former owner spread fireplace ashes in the crushed shale driverway . . . and also burned wood with nails from pallets & c. Mighty tough digging. You may need to keep a bucket of "fill" to smooth over holes.

Those pull magnets do work pretty well. I borrorwed one and found old roofing nails EVERYRWHERE in my yard. :D

see and sell those...

No no the property owner would be liable
I would say look man I did my job right and you are not going to stand there in a courtroom and tell me and the judge you can prove it was my fault someone picked up a nail in your lot or even that it wasn't in the tire before they got there.

It'd be interesting to see if a guy could make a little route for himself there and keep gravel lots free of nails for a fee..
And it'd be even better if the owner would sign off on a 51/49 split of anything of value

Well than I don't see much what's in it for them as far as paying a fee. So, that leaves the split option. If secretary "A" drops her wedding ring in the parking lot, I think she'd prefer it back in one piece. Probably not a cash settlement after it's sold for gold, either. And if Mr. Boss looks out the window to his parking lot and sees a half dozen little fresh holes and you say "your split is 3-1/2 cents" he's going to reconsider.

You're going to have to be a good salesman to pitch this. ;)
