Wierd metal shards-need help IDing

I found these about five days ago, but have no clue what they are. I found them in an area with a lot of hits, so if nobody knows, i can probably find more. The bell lookin thing has nothin to do with oil, and im still working on getting all the dirt out from inside it. Thanks for your help.

Here's a pic of inside that weird thing...as u can see there's still a lot of dirt to be scraped out. sorry the pics a little foggy...

I used to have a small starter cannon, the bell shaped thing looks like the back (breech) end . hey just a guess cool find though! 8)

Looks like an old bottle jack to me, like the kind that came with
the early Japanese cars.
