Although I am now using a Tesoro Vaq., I started with a ace 250. I learned a lot from that machine, still carry it as a backup and as a loaner. I would recommend it to anyone for a beginner machine. Heck I've put it in the hands of my nephew who was digging his own targets in a couple hours, I just helped him with the pinpointing. I would also tell you to check out the Tesoro silver umax. I like the fast retune on the Tesoro machines, really makes a big difference in trashy areas or when you encounter multiple targets, light too. Can't tell you anything about the F2 as I've never used it.

250 or save for better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! gottit!!!!!!

Between the two I would take the 250 over the F2 in a heartbeat. A far superior machine in my opinion. But if target ID was not an issue for me, I'd get the Tesoro Silver Umax. A much better performer in depth and discrimination that anything out there in the price range. And a real lifetime warranty, but you probably won't ever need it.

Neither, I would spend the extra $40.00 and buy a Tesoro Silver Umax, U won't be sorry.

I think I would take the ACE 250 over the fisher f2 the ace has a few more features that are usefull.
