why I think that the french prize and san miguel are lost near st augustine--

Re: humm I thinking that the french prize and san miguel are losst near st augustine

well the info I found states two things ---#1 reason ---- is a statement made by Ubilla's pilot major during the inquest into the loss of the vessels -- he stated that the reason the other vessels * (the missing vessels) where not with the rest of the fleet was the fact that they had taken a more northly track*** (thus they would have be more northerly when they were struck by the storm that sunk the fleet.)

The # 2 reason is a statement made by admiral Salmon which said --- that wreckage of a large vessel or vessels was found on THE "shore north " OF ST AUGUSTINE. meaning just above St Augustine ---the wreckage was found -- thus either they broke up at sea---- just off of / just below St Augustine and the wreckage was blown northwards and washed ashore or they wrecked close to shorejust above St Augustine ( by striking bottom like the rest of the 1715 fleet did to the south) thus this information is not "attacheded or linked" to the nassu sound wrecksite since is it "post 1715 fleet wrecked"--- my reasons for saying that are below.

The ideal that many folks hold that one or more of the original 1715 fleet vessels reached nassau sound before sinking --(a good bit up north) is in error I believe -- (the source of the 1715 fleet coins in the area is in fact ---aVIP rescue and recovery Bark sent from Havanas to recover VIP'S and treasure from the original 1715 wreck sites) -- the recovery vessel later wrecked in nassau sound according my research --- these according to my reaseach are the facts in my veiw.---read the "spotswod letter "--it clearly states that a "barcalonga" (a bark class type vessel) was sent from havana to get important people and treasure from the wreck sites---and that it was "cast away" about 40 miles to the north of St Augustine --thus it was sent out "after the 1715 fleet wrecked " to recover people and goods from the wreck sites --yet it would have the same exact type of treasure upon it as the original 1715 fleet vessels would have had -- and there is an excellant chance that a lot of the "important missing royal items" were aboard it --being an "important" VIP type recovery vessel --I'm very sure they wanted to get the VIP's and "crown jewel" type items out of the area rapidlybefore raiders arrived-- so logicly speaking theres a very good chance any "royal treasures" recovered from the fleet wreck sites at the time were placed aboard -- to be taken out of the area and back to spain before "raiders" arrived to steal them--- just my thoughts on the subject --- (see my post on march 31st , 2008 ion "todays finds" it shows the quote from spotswood letter of Oct 24th,1715 in "modern" plain english ) ---

over the years these two events some how became intertwined --and folks thought the missing fleet vessels were in nassau sound ---not so -- the records clearly show two very seperate events happening --one with the missing main 1715 fleet vessels --another with the recovery bark ---- a careful look at the records revels the location of the bark(nassau sound area --40 miles north of st augustine) and a rough location of the two missing fleet vessels or their wreckage at least --(on the northern coast area of St Augustine) --- humm not bad -- 3 ---1715 era treasure ships accounted for ---Ivan
