Not bad at all!! great finds!! Which det. were you using? I hope you say the 250. HH

The 250 found some of the bullets and the fork

In answer to the question;

People say that because they are lazy & have cherry picked the best stuff & then moved on. I'm still finding stuff after 25 years of many people hunting one spot.

Nice finds, nice collection! I was contemplating getting a bigger coil for my detector but I'm weighing that against getting a 250. Probably gonna go with the 250!

ITS A TRICK!!!!!! THEY DON'T WANT ANYWONE GOING THERE!!!!!
Nice diggins!!!!

GREAT DIGS TIM,
I'M LEARNING EARLY IN THIS GREAT HOBBY WHEN I HEAR ''THAT SPOT'S BEEN HUNTED OUT'' THAT THE DFX AND I ARE ON IT THE NEXT TIME OUT. SO FAR, SO GOOD.
HAPPY MDAY,

Hunted Out = 40 years of people swinging detectors in the same area. Is all the good stuff found from this area....No. But you can spend days and days just trying to find one silver coin or old penny.

Are you still going to find the old stuff, maybe....But you better pack a lunch!!!!

I will tell you what, I have spent some serious time detecting some old parks here and still walk away with a wheaty or 2. For me I would rather do some research trying to find a better spot that is going to produce better finds. Here in Portland, we are always trying to find places that a few other detectorists (that are retired and pound the heck out of the public places like a full time job) havent been too. If it is public, its been hit hard with top of the line equipment!!

.....Just my 2 cents worth ;D

the place that we are hunting is a place where there were 5 different union cavalry camps. It has been hunted for probably 30 years or more. but it has recently been clearcut and has been scraped some and that has revealed some deeper targets for us , also I was told just a few weeks ago that there is not anything left out there. well, wait till my next post and you will see there are some interesting things left. Tim

Nice collection. You should make shadow box display for them, it would look very nice.

Anyone who has been detecting for any length of time knows that no where is ever ' hunted out'. Just because someone is unable to locate any more goodies does not mean that they are not there.

I have walked behind someone who was detecting on the beach ( at a comfortable distance) and found what he missed. No one gets everything.

Happy Hunting

From my short experience detecting and from what I've gathered here on TN , I am of the opinion that if the property seems hunted out it's time to try a differant MD - as best I can tell differant detectors bring differant results. Bottom line.... just keep swinging & diggin!!!

I'm an oldtimer at this game and we talked hunted out in the mid 60's. Most of us figured metal detecting would be finished by 1980. ;D

Hunted out? I suspect it does happen but ain't found the spot yet.

The place I hunt mostly today is owned by a certain corporation and when I received the sole rights to hunt the land I was told not to even bother detecting it because several THers had already worked it totally out and all that was left was junk. LOL! ;D

When I first started hunting this place it was like virgin territory! Some days I dug a dozen early wheat cents with nice Mercs and Rosies and Indians. My oldest find at that site was dated ca. 1750 and my best find was an old massive solid rose gold chain I found just this spring. Hunted out? hahahaha!

I often wished some of these CW relic hunters would give me maps to their "hunted out sites." ;D

Nice finds, grats.
