Store owner shoots alleged robber more than 10 times after getting shot himself

11/27/13 | ByJennifer Cruz

A convenience store owner was shot during a robbery on Nov. 11 in Bassfield, Mississippi, but then turned the tables and opened fire on the robber shooting him at least 10 times.

It was in the early morning hours when the suspect, armed with a gun, walked into the Get and Go convenience store and demanded the clerk hand over the store’s cash, WDAM reports. But before the clerk could collect all of the cash, the robber shot the clerk in the leg.

The suspect then left the store, but apparently got greedy and decided to return moments later to grab the rest of the cash that was left behind. However, the suspect’s greediness would prove to be a fatal flaw.

Within those moments that the suspect walked out of the store, the clerk was able to retrieve his 9mm handgun, and when the robber walked back inside, the clerk opened fire. When officers arrived, the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to Jefferson David County Coroner Jimmy Slater, the suspect, identified as 35-year-old LeRobert Young of Bassfield, had 11 to 13 gunshot wounds.

The store clerk was transported to a local hospital where he underwent surgery and is expected to make a full recovery.

No charges are expected to be filed against the clerk.

The Get and Go convenience stores are a part of the Giant Eagle family of stores and although it is unknown if the company has a no weapons policy like many larger national chains, according to Buckeye Firearms Association of Ohio, the Giant Eagle stores – at least those in the state of Ohio — have removed signs which prohibit firearms.

With several recent stories in the news ofstore clerks who pulled a gun on would-be robbers, only to be fired for violating their company’s no weapons policy, perhaps this will be one clerk who receives a pat on the back instead of a pink slip

In the words of Bernhard Goetz (AKA the subway vigilante)...you dont look to bad, heres another.:laughing7:

What you guys don't understand is: per the lib's, who watch TV 24/7 - The store owner could have just shot the intruders trigger finger off and left him incapable of returning fire. Then everyone would be safe and happy. Now let's all return to reality...........

The obvious answer to the title is................
Because I ran out of ammo!

I think that is what I titled it...

Another LIB ANTI GUN spouting point will be that if everyone followed New York State's mag limit, then there would have only been seven shots that could have been fired at this poor robber and he might now be alive! Wait for it!!

Well I would say he proved his point and defended himself quite well.. Get that man another box of shells and an extra clip..

Starts me wandering. they limit the amount of ammo you are allowed to
have loaded in your weapon, but is there a 'law' on carrying extra mags.?

For me it is an easy fix, I want live in a state the has a capacity law.

Florida has no laws regulating large capacity ammunition magazines.

We will NOT go quietly into the night!

If he used a Tarus with DD ot buck with 4 copper loads each shot 5 times and hit him with 20 projectiles would that be news??

The clerk just needs a little more practice is all.Fire power is good, accuracy is final.

So, is this one of those stories that extremeists like to point to when they say "statistically you should do what the bad guys want, you won't get shot in the leg that way" or something to that effect?

Hey Dave, I think what they really mean is the ROBBER won't get shot in the leg..ha
Jim

Hey, don't lump all us libs in one basket. Here in Texas it don't matter. Guns are usually concealed carry and the robber might never have gotten the first shot off. Guess it's different other places, but around these parts it's shoot first and ask no questions later. The immigrants haven't learned this yet and a couple have been murdered. But watching the news is cool when a worker pulls a gun, opens fire and you see wounded thieves being finished off. And yeah, some of these folks are good enough to shoot the pinkie and another body part off if they so desire...
