Why can't dealers list Whites prices?

I think this is kind of stupid. I was looking to price a detector for my nephew's B-day and he likes the Whites but I keep getting forwarded to the Whites site. I'm gonna try to talk him into something else I think.

I just went to Kellyco and some other dealers and the prices are listed like any other detector.

I don`t see any prices on Whites at kellyco rettail is there u have to call for their price

I see no prices on any dealer site. I don't wanna have to jump through hoops to buy a detector. No prices = No sale.

Both Whites Electronics and Kellyco have prices listed. Some dealers give out incentives like a goody bag. Call, like everyone else does. It is a toll free number. There are dealers here on this board that will also give you a deal but you will have to call them also.....

Whites is as old school as it comes, they would very much like you to visit a dealer rather than just buy one on line. The reason is good, they want to ensure you are speaking with someone and having your questions answered as opposed to just clicking on a link and having it sent. Therefore they have policies in place that make it mandatory to speak with someone, as mentioned above all you have to do is call one of the dealers. I don't see why that is a reason not to buy one, I think it best to talk to someone before any detector purchase whether policy or not.

All I wanted to do was price them out, not spend a lot of time on the phone. There is no Whites dealer near me and will have to buy on line anyway.

I would suggest calling Mike from Woodland, he is not some trained salesman he just knows his stuff, if you are honest and just say you're asking for a price right now I doubt he'll try and "lure" you in to a long conversation.

Good to hear. I just hate being on the phone. Ask my wife, our conversations consist of me saying
"Uh-huh, uh-huh, yup, yup, ok, by"

We can list the retail prices on the site but cannot take orders over the internet for any Whites machines. This is the policy that Whites has in place and if you want to be a dealer you have to abide by their rules. I can say though that if you give us a call or PM me I can get you the prices you want on the Whites machines and they will be discounted from the retail prices that are displayed.

I think it is because of competition among dealers. They don't want to scare you away with a fixed price. They want you to contact them and give them a chance to beat another price quote.
