why 1862

got this from my grandma and i know its at least 50 years old. Im sure its a reproduction but what happened in 1862? Or is it just a random year?

its about 2' by 1' and the back is the same as the front.

It almost looks like the shape of a grave marker.

Ivan i always admired this thing since i was a little aa and now grandma is gone maybe someone in the family can tell me . I think she got this in San Diego when they lived there.
