The Box was a skunk other then that.
Whats the Deal with these they were just low mintage?
Are 1970 half's 40% Silver?

Congrats on your first 87 CC. Yes they have low mintage. According to the Redbook, the mintage on the both the 87-P & D was about 2.9 million each.

The 1970 half is 40% silver just like 65-69. The 70 is also a very low mintage.......2.1 million for the D and 2.6 million for the S.

The year you were born?!?!?!? Thanks For making me feel old that is the year I finished high school and went active duty military.

BTW I am still looking for my first 87.

Yea that was the year my daughter was born- I was searchin hard for one to make her a necklace. Found a 87D on Friday, then found another Monday for good measure. HH Mark

Let me give a hint as to my antiquity. I entered high school the year the 90% JFK half was introduced and was in Viet Nam the last years of the 40%ers.

I honestly do not remember ever seeing a JFK half during high school. I did baby sitting for a neighbor and got paid 50 cents an hour. I wonder if she paid me in halves. Could have been Franklins.
