I've been detecting for many years, about 5 to be exact. When I got my second detector a Whites Classic 5id (which was a whole lot better than a Bounty Hunter). I detected pretty much everywhere. I would find V-nickels, silver, relics and so on. I was swinging very slow at the time and would get tired after a hour or so. But I got stronger and started to metal detect longer and swing faster. I know now that I've been swinging a little to fast.
I was reading about the E-Trac, which I've been hoping to get one day and I read about having to slow your swinging down to a point of such slowness. I thought after awhile that maybe the reason I wasn't finding as but as I used to was because for one I didn't have a pin pointer and two was that I was swinging way to fast. So I decided that when I go up to my Grandparents I would slow my swinging way down and see what I get. At the time I didn't have my pin pointer yet.
I went to a newer home site that turned out to be another abandoned home from the other one just feet away, unlike the one feet away, this one wasn't in the woods and wasn't falling in. The new house was old but still could be occupied by anyone. I knocked on the door to check, walked over to the garage didn't see anyone. No no trespassing signes, actually it looked like someone hasn't been there in at least 5 years to check on the place. I said what the heck, no one would notice, plus i wouldn't be back in at least a year anyhow. I wanted to check the soil to see if it was even diggable after 5 years of over grown grass. It was soft and very little rocks. I agreed to myself, nothing to deep, small holes and only 5 minutes of detecting. The whole time there I found a silver Rosie 1947, toy gun, some relics. All using my slow technique. Anyhow, I stayed in the back yard, left probably with in 2 minutes because it was 29 degrees and snowing. I decided to go to the church across the road, then my metal detector batteries died, Karma getting back to me i suppose. I detected at another old house across from the church a day before, found a 1942 wheat and a 188? Indian head penny! I had permission from this place though.. Anyhow, happy hunting!
