I recently read about this guy who faced a revolt of his citizens ... the charges sound somewhat familiar. Among other things ...
He refused to agree to laws necessary for the public good.

He imposed hardships on those who would not relinquish their rights and "go along" with him.

Forced, by unusual means, legislative bodies to comply with his measures.

He obstructed justice by refusing to enforce laws at his discretion.

He erected a multitude of new offices to harass the people and tax them excessively.

He affected a military independent of and superior to the civil authorities.

He allowed foreign jurisdiction and agreed to their acts of pretended legislation.

He imposed taxes without the consent of the people.

He deprived men of the benefit of Trial by Jury.

He abdicated his authority by allowing others to wage war against some with impunity.

He incited domestic insurections and allowed for the murder of his citizens by not defending them.

His own subjects considered him a tyrant, unfit to be the ruler of a free people.

He ignored the voices of his people while appealing for justice.

Who was this guy? How could he have done all these things?

Does anyone here remember who he was, and what the result of his actions were?
 

But it fits so many despots! Can't you give us a hint on how many he murdered at least?
 

I'd say that historically it was Adolph Hitler - many counts point to him.

But then of course, one sees this even today....
 

I would be surprised if anyone DIDN'T know who it was.

If anyone is unsure, brush up on the Declaration of Independence. Those charges and more were itemized.

We've already rejected a Tyrant like that once ....

"Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. That dang Packer knows a lot more than he lets on!
 

Those are, essentially, a modernized version of the language contained
in the Declaration of Independence. Those same issues are why the US
was formed, and we rejected Great Britain's rule over us.

Not sure if it was every part of a formal speech, but I believe that
Thomas Jefferson wrote it.

That would be King George III. He did that stuff because he was King, and
as a result we kicked his armies arse right out, and made our own country
where "The People" were not subjected to Britain's unjust laws and illegal taxation....
