Who says Missouri can't have nice relics too

:hello: Recently decided to get out of the Navy at my 4-yr point and moved back to Missouri. During the CW, my hometown had quite a bit of activity and some of the finds pictured came from a hunt on Wednesday. Yesterday, I came down to visit some relatives that live in Northern Arkansas, near the battle of Pea Ridge. I had shot a pm at member "peanut" a couple weeks ago to meet up and hit a spot my relatives own. The third hole I dug was the wreath to a two piece buckle. I looked for the tongue for a couple hours with no luck. I assure you I'll be back to keep looking soon. Anyway, we hit that spot til about noon and then met up with one of peanut's friends and hit another site. I ended up with the 3 eagle I's and a couple of the bullets from that second spot yesterday. Thanks again peanut, had a blast!

Anyone know what type of bullet this is on the right (next to a .44 colt)

Oh cool, so it is militia then? I wasn't sure.. There were some CS artillery styles that looked pretty close.. Didn't get the pm yet.

Re: Who says Missouri can't have nice relics too

Congrats on the nice relics. The wreath is sweet man. I thought that it looked pre civil war. Alot of the militia in that area were involved in the Mexican War during the 1840s so you never know, the man who wore that one may have been down there fighting with Sam Houston against Santa Anna. Either way those are some nice recoveries and expect to see the tongue sometime in the near future!!! :icon_thumleft: :icon_thumleft: :headbang:

I had a blast yesterday! It was nice to meet you in person. That stuff looks good together it would make a nice display. I hope to go with you again soon, maybe you can come on down further south and dig one of these strange bullets sometime. I cant wait to see the other half of that buckle. :icon_thumleft:
Happy hunting,
peanut

Great finds...a success indeed!

Re: Who says Missouri can't have nice relics too

great hunt Jeff! congrats

Re: Who says Missouri can't have nice relics too

I think you could go anywhere and find awesome relics!

Re: Who says Missouri can't have nice relics too

You did well there Jeff. I am not a lead wizard but your unknown bullet may be a M & M #161 which is a .58 cal. Sugar Loaf picket bullet (Big cousin to the one I just found). Expect to find some fairly rare CS bullets there. I would have my "tongue" sticking out from exhaustion from looking for the other part of that buckle. As you know, a lot of surplus CW accoutrements, weapons, and projectiles made their way out West for the Indian Wars. You will have a field day there. HH and thanks for your military service, Quindy.

Re: Who says Missouri can't have nice relics too

Wow!!! You guys did well with all the buttons buckles and bullets. What more can you ask for? haha except maybe the other part :laughing7: Nice hunt fellas!!!

Re: Who says Missouri can't have nice relics too

Ditto Q. Thank you for your service. :) GREAT hunting and nothing like having a good hunting buddy to go with. :icon_thumright: Maybe now that you're located in MO, you might consider going to the Chisholm Trail hunt next fall in Kansas?

Congrats on the awesome finds! Nana :)
