Hi good people

Sorry about my bad english.I'm new here on TreausureNet.I found your site on internet because i look for some informations about medal which my uncle find on the work on cornfield ca. 40 years ago in old Yugoslavia-South Europe.
Did somebody know who is on this medal frontside and what is the meaning on the pic on the rear side? ( 5 Womens in the Fire look to the Sky and on the sky is the Cross with many pots )
The Medal look so good because my Uncle give it to one Goldsmith to clean it...
Did somebody know more about medals like this one?
Thanks people IMG_0337-klein.jpgIMG_0338-klein.jpg

anastas is a spanish variation of the name anastasia. there was a russian zsar who had a daughter named anastasia that was somehow betrayed by 5 women. your medallion has the word roma depicted on it tho, which i think might be latin for rome. hope this gives you some leads. oh yea, and there was a saint anastasia from around the second century that was the saint of weaving. so maybe thats not pots in the sky, but baskets.

Saint Anastasios the Fuller - After reading Saint Paul's advice to the Thessalonians that it's best to work
with your hands, he became a fuller (cloth merchant) at Split, Yugoslavia. He is the patron saint of weavers.

The back image may be sinners in purgatory being "purified" by the flames before ascending into heaven above.

I'm wondering, considering the sharp tip, if that isn't some sort of tool, maybe used in weaving?

I found that this is a votive medal that depicts the cut-off head of Saint Anastasius the Persian that martyred near Rome/Italy.

I cannot find an exact match but here are some close ones.

Antica Medaglia Votiva Cristiana S.... a Benevento - eBay Annunci

Also here's some info on him.

Book of Saints ? Anastasius ? 22 January » Saints.SQPN.com
Anastasius of Persia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I could not find out anything about the back depiction, looks like some martyrs in a fiery furnace. You could make a wider search with those terms...
The second medal link has a back image of an encircled cross like the one in the sky on your find.

yaxthri is correct. It is Anastasius of Persia. He had his head cut off. The medal says something like "The head of Anastasius the Martyr". CAPVT (caput) means 'head' in Latin.

Oh now that "detect-OR-fish" posted the pic I think I get it, the round object with the cross over (inside ) the chalice on the bac side symbolizes the Holy Communion, the Eucharist maybe?
And the thing with the number 12 is also a good observation...
