This is a very old photograph in a sealed backed frame of someone I've seen before but can't figure out who it is and driving me crazy trying to figure it out. Does anyone recognize who this man might be? Thanks

I thought of him to but not sure?A young Zachary Taylor?
I think you might be correct.may be from the 1860's perhaps?
I may do that but kinda reluctant as the frame is a beautiful oval sealed back that I would have to cut it out and ruin its originality but the curiosity may get the better of me. I have one other person that says they have definitely seen him before also which leads me to believe he may be someone of prominence.Style is very 1850's/1860's. Great picture! Can you get to the back to see if anything is written on it?
Hey, I'm ashamed to say this but I was going to go ahead and cut it out when I noticed a very faint pencil signature under bright light on the back hardly visible against the black backing the name Judge William T. Howell. I googled him and he is a prominent jurist and politician who served as a judge in the newly formed Arizona Territory and author of the territory's first legal code the "Howell Code" and was nominated to the Arizona Territorial Supreme Court by Abraham Lincoln....Very interesting history.Understood...I wouldn't want to cut it out either. You might try posting it to the "What is it?" forum. More people hang out there.
Just noticed you are from North Georgia, I am too. Originally the Blue Ridge, McCaysville area. Might this be your area also?I'm glad you didn't have to cut it! That is a great history save. That frame is pretty awesome.
Marietta is where I am, but we like to spend a week in the summer around Blue Ridge. That's a great area.Just noticed you are from North Georgia, I am too. Originally the Blue Ridge, McCaysville area. Might this be your area also?
