Not made of iron. Maybe pewter (tinnen)?

It could be a pilgrim badge. I don't see the 29.

Yes, you are right, its made of tinnen. Maybe its a pilgrim badge, but could you tell me a little bit more about a pilgrim badge? How old it could be?

Looks like a 2 and then a reversed 2, not a 9.

It could represent Mary holding the Christ child. I think the "2 9" are part of the scrollwork motif around the badge. Here is an example:

Thank you all for the answers. I try to clean it a little bit more, so you can see 'mary' better.

When its a pilgrim badge, and it is mary, how much is it worth?

Sadly not worth very much. $50 US would be TOP dollar. Check ebay to see market prices.

The erotic ones are more valuable than the religious ones... ::)

I agree that the 29 is just a decor on the edge & the metal is either pewter or lead-alloy(more likely in this case). It seems to have some age, maybe 17th C but not old enough to be a Pilgrims badge.
With the iron fixings it had to either fix to leather or wood, which is not the normal attachment technique for a badge. I'm not sure what it fixed to, but its a cool find.
