Looking for folks that have used or still use their TDI PRO setting tips. I use my around the Central Valley of California old swimming holes do some coin hunting. Gain at half, Threshold at half or just less then half like the silence in my headphones. Geb off the ground out here does not affect my tdi pro frequency half and my tone at half to hear both high and low tones.

Sorry, not meaning to hijack your thread (as I have no settings advice for your TDI). But I notice you're talking about differentiating highs vs lows. And I assume also using the GB off-set tricks to likewise tell iron vs conductive. Right ?

If so, then you've probably reduced your sensitivity down to becoming no more than you'd get from a machine like a Sov, Excal, CZ, etc...

And if you wish to avail yourself your pulse's ability to hear dainty thin chains and earing studs, then likewise: You'd have to forgo the ability to differentiate iron. Right ?

So in your opinion of hunting your central CA lake swim holes so far, have you compared the ability of a standard machine, versus the TDI ?

AT PRO I like and It helps me not dig certain items out of the ground just by the tone and the vdi numbers. My TDI PRO hear everything and somethings thats good and bad. I know my highs and lows I know my coin tone and my gold tone. Iron tone sometimes will fool me for a coin and my nickel coins fool me for both or vice versa. Olded pull tabs I know the sound but the new ones kind of get me. Bottle cap new I know what they sound like but the old ones somethimes get me. My target conductivity toggle I leave at all so I can hear both and I leave my GEB FINE at balance to hear both. Just wondering if anybody had some tips because there is not many videos about the TDI PRO. Maybe I should start my own.

The best I remember from having a TDI pro is you do NOT get any high low audio with gb off. I know Pi has its place but coi hunting around an old freshwater swimming hole has to be excruciating. If you get away with no ground balance a VLF should work fine there.

I agree with Fletch: The TDI certainly has its place. I would place it in the beach hunter category. Even though it has some tricks to tell iron, and high's versus lows, yet notice NO ONE is using it to take the place of turf machines like the Explorer or CTX, for instance. Ask yourself : "why not ? If it can effortlessly get a coin to 1.5 ft. deep (versus the explorer & CTX at a wimpy 12"), then why isn't the TDI replacing people's machines in the turf ?

Because the minute you go to implement those tricks to pass iron, etc... you can kiss that fabled depth good-bye. It's still good mind you, but no better at that point that several standard machines on the market. Then you have to ask yourself "why knock yourself silly with such sqqquuiirrreelllly sounds and tones, if you're getting no better depth . And certainly less TID info than a machine like the explorers.

Not sure how much iron and junk your beaches in the central valley have. Perhaps they mimick the coastal beaches of CA. In which case, the TDI might work. I just found it too squirrelly for my tastes. And as you yourself note: to avail yourself of the fabled depth, you'll have to forgo some ability to tell iron.
