Whites Spectrum problem

Re: White's Spectrum problem

Last time it happened to me it was the coil, actually the cord on the coil. If you have another coil put it on. Rob

Re: White's Spectrum problem

Hey Rob, I tried two different coils on it with no improvement. I took it to a local shop and he tried one of his coils and it did the same thing. After about 20 minutes of troubleshooting, we both came to the same conclusion. The unit is on it's way back to White's. I hope they have a quick turnaround, I'm already having withdrawals. Thanks for the reply

Re: White's Spectrum problem

Well, got the Spectrum back last week and finally got to take it out yesterday. It has the same problem for which I was charged $68 to have fixed. I guess I'll call White's today and see what they will do for me.

Re: White's Spectrum problem

Man, that's a bummer! My DFX did that one time for a short period and upon disassembly of it I found a piece of my adapter plug came off the bottom and was shorting things out inside on the circuit board. That obviously can't be your problem unless they never opened it up. :o Good luck, will be watching for the outcome.

Re: White's Spectrum problem

sounds like a connection problem. if it did it to several coils perhaps its the jack?

Re: White's Spectrum problem

Called the whites factory and told them the story. They said send it to them and I would be fixed at no charge. It should be in the hand tomorrow. I hope they keep it until it's fixed this time.

Re: White's Spectrum problem

The Saga continues.

Got my spectrum back last Thursday. Wasn't able to test it until this morning. Turned it on and it has the same problem it was sent in twice for. First time White's repair center said they "tuned" it. That cost $68.00. The tech at the factory said he believed humidity was causing my problem. His fix was to spray lacquer on the suspect components. Cost, $13.00 shipping. Six weeks of lost hunting, $71.00 in repair costs. Priceless.

Re: White's Spectrum problem

Well it took a while, but after two months and three returns to the factory, White's finally gave up on repairing my Spectrum. So they asked if I would accept a factory refurbed "XLT" as an even trade. I jumped on the offer and received the unit last Thursday. The "XLT" looks brand new. I hope to get to check it out in the next day or two.
