White's M6 and rings

I've been metal detecting for about 9 months and have yet to find a ring. I was wondering at what VDI do rings register? I have not dug a lot of signals at the lower levels of the VDI ie....pull tabs , nickels etc., simply because there seems to be say many targets that are trash in that range and I only have so much energy. So, I've been sticking to the coin hits. Any suggestions on picking up some of those rings?

I got a thick gold band last week that came in at 50VDI but most are around the 16 to 20VDI range, the only reason I dug that one is that I was at a real old house and some IH's come in about that range. Your going to have to dig some trash for most gold rings though, some of the big ones come in at a high VDI range though like class rings and such, but a thin gold band like wedding rings are going to VDI in the range of alot of trash items. If there not to deep the rings usually won't be a bouncy VDI like lots of trash items do, so you should get a full solid bar and solid VDI from different angles even. HH

Gold rings can come in wide range because of sizes, amount of karats, other metal the ring is made with. I found a 10k gold childs ring that come in at 2 with my M6. I know of another 10k gold childs ring that was found with a MXT or M6 that come in at -7. I dig from -9 up. Good luck! You have a good jewelry machine. Cg

Sorry you are going to have to dig some of those pull tab and below signals if you want to up your chances at a gold ring. Since gold rings are alloyed with many metals they can even be in the foil range. 103.jpgSome of them are broken like this one. Broken rings sound like trash as the tone brakes up. The tiny gold on the right is a earring back which I get with a CZ-20.
