Detector(s) used
ACE 150
Hey there TNeters. I was recently searching on a few of my local ads and came by one for a Whites IDX Pro for $300 Canadian. I'm currently using an Ace 150 so this would be quite a step up. I read most of the reviews and know some of the flaws, but for half the retail price I think it's a decent deal. I'm just curious, should I just buy this detector now or wait and save up for something better? Anyway, any input is greatly appreciated!

Kiko,

Although I never used an IDX Pro one of my friends had one & really found lots of neat stuff with it. He still wanted to upgrade to a DFX for more versatility but unfortunately passed away at a young age last year.

I think anything form White's would be a big improvement over the Ace.

I'm not sure what the going price for one would be but $300 is a lot cheaper than the $1000 for the DFX & if you have to wait before you can afford a more expensive detector you'll be just that much further away from detecting with a quality machine.

You'll have to make the ultimate decision yourself. Maybe you'll find a couple of gold rings with the IDX & then you'll be able to buy an M6, MXT,XLT or DFX. ( And that's the reverse order of my choice in machines. I have a DFX & XLT & I wouldn't mind having any of the others).

Thanks Sarge! It's true what you said, and I could sure go for an upgrade! I think I will take the offer, but do just a tad more research on it. As you said, it would be a large improvement over the Ace! Really sad to hear about you're friend though :( It's always very difficult to see a life taken young :( :'( Thanks for the advice though Sarge!

I believe the IDX/ Pro would be a definite upgrade. I used mine a ton before getting my MXT and really liked it alot. For 300 bucks you won't be dissapointed and if for some reason you don't care for it you should have no problem selling it for the same.
