Whitelock & Carters Tailors [1871-1944] "the days of free give aways"

Hi all,Went out to a site where once stood a couple of local traders outlets once stood. At the back of the area is a small dump pit which several of traders used for a period of time. The was Whitelock & Carter tailors store and unkown Butcher shop and Wilson'general store.Spent to hours tracing scattering of shards and items to main pit.Dig a bit and found the pit. ;D ;D ;D The only disappointment is the fact ,in past lots of these pits were burnt. :( :( :(.

I found a small brass tape measure[damaged] which i think was a purchase give away.Such giveways were common in the past.Often embossed as free advertizing. Also found a Aussie penny first issue to warn for date[1911-1936] ??? ??? ???.A East Africa Shilling with a big cut in it.Its quite common to find british colony coins here as the local mining companies owned gold mines in few different colonies.
also found half a cermic gingerbeer bottle.

Today i,m going to hit the pit big time and hope to find a few more local advertizing giveaways and treasure may be."May be" "May be" lol

When you dig down there, Does the dirt fall in your face? And is it true your toilets swirl backwards? BTW I live for pits like those. Bongo
