We went up to Auburn State Recreation Area to do a wee bit of panning.
Came up with nuttin.
However, as I was classifying so called pay dirt , I spotted this neat little rock. The reason I picked it out is because I liked the greenish hue of the stone and thought it was pretty.
Anyway, tucked it away in my pocket. Brought it home and here are the pictures.
What kind of mineral is it?
Thanks for lookin'
-Joanne
Close up using my 8x loupe. I placed the rock on a guitar pick for size comparison. Interestingly, it gives it a weird kind of perspective I should of used a dime.
On a whim, I brought the rock into a dark room and fluoresced it. To my surprise, it turns purple.
