While searching one house, I'm offered several more!
Sometimes I fret about running out of good places to search, but now I'm starting to stockpile a few. Yesterday, while working a yard in town, the owner's wife came out and offered her mother's place out in the country, adjacent to an old farm house. The only request she had was that I search for her brother's high school ring and her mother's gold bracelet. Anything else I found was mine to keep. Deal! The second house is next door to the one I'm currently searching; the owner came by and I merely asked him to clarify the border between the two properties. He said it didn't matter, that I could search anywhere, including the rest of the yard around his house. He watched me work for a while and was impressed that my XLT was able to find coins and other stuff. The man is 85 and seemed eager to offer up lots of information about the old days (which I am always eager to hear). The third house I've been offered is two doors the other way, brother to the one I am currently working. This is a corner lot and the oldest house in that stretch; to me, it has the most potential. I also gave back the SLQ I found in a mistaken search last week and told the owner, "If you're curious about what else might be back there, give me a call." He said he would; this gives me about half a block of houses in an old neighborhood only a block from where I live. Does it get any easier than that, especially with the price of gas?
PS After finishing yesterday, I noticed two MDers in the park across the street, probably pulling clad. I didn't have time to stop and ask how they were doing.
