Had some old tools, metal smelting dish etc. laying around. Place made me nervous, I took nothing except photos. Wont go back alone. _DSC1846.JPG_DSC1847.JPG_DSC1848.JPG_DSC1849.JPG_DSC1850.JPG_DSC1851.JPG

Interesting! Ya a buddy who's pack'n would be a good idea.

I ain't there so I don't know for sure but, that doesn't look too old and sure isn't spooky to me. Good luck.

Rebel,Keppy,
Its always good to hear from EXXPERTS, makes my day. Looks like your the Couple to go to when Quality Imformation is required. Sleep Well gentileman.

What is in the chimney? Is that a toad??? Did you bring a detector and swing it at all? Any tones?

I completely understand the nervous feeling. I hunt alone way to much and way to many times the hair on the back of my neck will stand up and I will get the feeling that im not alone. Or course I am very paranoid anyway so I'm sure its just me 90% of the time.. Very cool pics, thanks for sharing.

Hi Diggergirl, I believe in retrospect that was a piece of metal.Yes I had a detector and their were a couple places I wanted to use it. One was the completly White bare tree in the background, another was around the backside of the chimmeny another area was inside the chimmeny flu. The area made me uneasy, so just photos. I believe the chimmeny was converted to a smelter. This place had a lot of character, wish it could talk.

Man oh man!!! Looks like you stumbled upon something really cool. I have been at old abandoned camp grounds swinging the coil and if it weren't for the headphones I would have jumped and peed myself every time the wind blew dry leaves around! Lol
Most of the time it's our own minds that get the best of us (at least with me anyway). Grab a buddy and head back to the area and see if you can put a date stamp on the area.
Cool pics! HH!

Old or not, pretty cool. Always scan those chimneys with your detector and check for loose rocks. Great hiding places.

Outllaw chimney? How does a chimney break the law?

I'd sure give the area a once-over. Looks like it was more for heating than smelting - though someone may have put it to that use once the cabin around it disintegrated. Bit of the roof flashing left.

I've been around much of rural Nevada and have not seen this one yet. PM me or post the location here and I will do a little research and see what I come up with. Who knows, might be worth a return trip.

Personally I would love to find a place like that to detect. That's what this hobby is all about. Heck, I'd have to camp out there a night or two just to make sure I gave it a good thorough going over.

I like the feedback thanks T.H.ers, what I can say is I got the leads for this hunt from a old obscure book.I could find no imfo on the internet that co-insided with the book. So far in this area I have seen a overgrown cematary, a overgrown rock wall in a field , a deserted ranch with L.D.S. sign{Mormans}, off the hiway all dirt roads. Very little traffic,no stores/gas stations. So far I have not located the outlaw clues I am seeking. This is a place time forgot. Hard to believe but true.
