I have owned a cz6a and a couple cz70's. I liked the controls on the cz6a better but the four tones of the cz70. Both units are deep but I give the edge to the cz70 because that added tone will make you dig some targets that you might pass up with the cz6a. Deepest coin with the cz70 was a seated dime at nine inches in somewhat tall grass.

thanx warsaw and kurt-i have been leaning towards the cz70 but have also heard great things about the cz5. its stilll up in the air on which cz im gonna buy. again thanx and i would like to get a few more users opinions.

I've had a CZ-5, and a CZ-7. Both found 12" quarters and 11" cents. Don't think I got any dimes much more than 8" though a few close to 9" were found. Both found LC's, both found gold. Still have all three Fisher coils and my favorite was the 10.5" because it was deep, honest and also great at the beach. Can't wait until I get enough change in my hidey hole to pick up another CZ-5.

Still got a CZ-20. Never got the depth of the other two rigs with it but it's one of my favorite all-time construction/demo site machines because it runs deep enough and quiet in that environment. It has the 8" coil and if I got the chance and approval from the Kitchen Funding Committee I'd jump at one with the 10'5" coil for both deep field and beach work.

All that said, I'd still like to try the CZ-70 because of the 4 tone option. If I could get one of the hot CZ-3d's that might do as well.

thanks lowbatt-some great info you gave-apprecate it.

I have not tried any of the other CZ's but my CZ7a Pro goes really deep and I love it at the beach. The salt mode really makes a difference. So for me it or the newer version CZ70 is good for me as it works great on land and at the beach.

I like my CZ-6a because it is light weight and I have all the coils for it. Course when you have to many detectors you have a hard time choosing which one to take. I carry my control box around my neck to even save weight on the arm and it makes a great beach detector because it is like the land version of the CZ-20/21 only with the swithch for the salt mode. I think it is as deep or deeper than my DFX and it is luckier.

thanxs alot steve and sandman.

hi
i use a CZ-6a and it is one of the deepest seeking metal decectors i have ever used in my 37 yrs. of MDing,Fisher labs at FT put a new coil on it and retuned .....ya hot
thanks G.A.p.metal

I have owned every CZ made and in my opinion, the depth on all of them is too close to call. I had one of the first 3D's and I had a very hot 6a. I had my best luck with these two detectors. I routinely found 8 to 9 inch deep pennies and dimes. With the 6a, I found over 100 silver coins in four months and the depth was impressive. I found one of my deepest coins ever with a 70(barber dime 11 to 12 inches), but the spots I used it at were well picked over so to say it would not keep up with the 3d and 6a would not be fair. I have had several 5's and I currently have a 7a pro. They are like beautiful women, I like them all. R.L.

The cz-20 is always in salt mode, so it might lag it's sister machines in depth in mild soil....but I am not sure. I suspect all the cz machines have the same circuit architecture, and performance is probably equal across the series. Depth increases with larger coils, generally speaking. Cz's are considered as excellent sensitive machines regardless of coil size.

The czs like iron and will drive you crazy at first. High pitch, then low iron grunt, then high pitch. It took me 2 years to get thru that and learn to just work thru the pesky iron. It doesn't matter, when deep searching, you should run it in autotune mode, but you have to learn the sounds and scrim at first. Deep rusty nails will be dug, the machines give iffy signals on deep iron. I always dig deep iffy signals, hoping for a good one, but the cz rarely lies. Expect nails or corroded Indian cents. Or V nickels.

The cz's give excellent audio feedback concerning depth. On deep silver dimes and cents, you will hear sharp, faint, crisp high pitch tones, so low in volume its amazing. You will know its a coin, and you will be able to guess how deep within 1 inch.
I have dug many hundreds of coins with the cz at 6" or deeper. I have found pull tabs in mild beaches at 12" with 8" coil, in all-metal (autotune) mode.

my cz3d does that high low tone thing to and yes i've dug that deep old square nail myself, i'll get it down yet on this machine!

I had a CZ 5 and was shocked at the depth of some coins I would dig. It awesome deep but loved deeeep rusty nails.
