which coils for mxt pro

Just bought the mxt pro and it came with a 12" coil. I am leaning towards the eclipse 950 for a second choice . What would be your second and third choices based on experience. I am new to this and have been using a sharpshooter 2 for a couple of months. Thanks..

Many good coils to chose from. The 950 is pretty decent a lot of people like em. Myself, I prefer the D2 on the MXTP. Really turns it into a different machine.
The Eclipse 6x10 is suppose to be a hot setup too. I have it ordered, just waiting for it to arrive. I also have an Eclipse 5.3. I don't really care for it on the MXTP but love it on my Vx3. The Eclipse 4x6 is the cats whiskers for trashy environments. Wish I'd had got that instead of the 5.3. Those are just the Whites coils. There are also the EXcelerator SEF coils. 10x12 is a popular size and many users love em.

If I were adding 2 coils to your already 12" I'd be getting the 4x6 for sure. Then either the D2 or the 10x12 SEF.

I think hands down the D2 is the best coil for the MXT but they all have a place they will shine, I have the detech ultimate 13" coil as well and seems as deep as the D2 but hits harder on those deep coins setting on edge but you need a wide open area with short grass to swing it. I have the D2,950,6x10DD,4x6DD, and the ultimate 13" DD. HH

I too just got my mxt pro about 3 weeks ago actually. I read up enough before hand and ordered the d2 right away. My house is from the 50's. My yard is like a landfill.lol. Just solid hits on every kind of metal you can imagine. So far from bird shot @3"s to an axe head @16"s.lol I'm still learning the machine. And digging a lot to do so. I get a lot of -95 hot rock readings. Probably because my yard is so trashy from all the eroding iron. I've almost got an ice cream pail full of junk. But I've found plenty of clad. Including 2 wheats. An some neat relics. The deepest was 16" s as I said before. Just a threshold reading. Deepest change was a wheat @ 10"s! That was a faint signal mixed in with some junk. Pretty lucky find to me. Overall I am very pleased I invested in the d2. Especially since I've got pretty high mineralization here in my yard. Bottom line from what I've seen so far the d2 separates awesomely an go's deep! I'm still new myself. Please keep that in mind.Wish I could comment on some other coils. From what im reading you really do need a smaller coil for the super trashy areas. The other guys on here def know what their talking about! Youve come to the right place for info.I've just been reading an reading and reading. If you haven't already read the book the mxt edge i consider it as a must have. I'd be lost with out it so far. I advise looking into the sef line both really 6x8 & the 10x12 seems more balanced then the 10dd with better separation un iron its a real good coil line

U got it, cant do it now since I dont think it would b accurate from only 2hrs on the sef compared to alot on the dd but like I said it does have great depth & accurate #'s so far ill let u know soon I hope
