Whew!!! What a day! Maryland staff state button, Confederate kepi flower button with
iron back, 1846 seated liberty dime, 2 boreman fuses, bullets, pack hook, scabbard tip, lots of musket balls and case shot, grommets, LOTS of melted lead, and other miscelaneous relics. To be honest I don't even really know what I have here. All I know is my new spot is virgin! Took alot of time and effort to get permission to hunt this site but I knew what was there. I have a feeling this is just the tip of the iceburg! I know where I'll be heading back over the next few weeks. I know one of the buttons is a state or a staff button because of the rim.......... I just don't know what it is yet. One of the others has a iron back so I've got my fingers crossed. Will post a cleaned pic later tonight or tomorrow. I am one tired but happy relic hunter! Addendum : I thought last night because I saw a shield in the button I had a New York. The button with the shank disentegrated in my hand late last night while cleaning it ..... Ughhhhh (I found in in a low lying area) so I put the other 2 buttons on my counter top to clean them later. I'm pretty sure it was just an eagle button. Well when I finally got around to it today the button did have a shield but also 2 men on each side of it and an eagle on top! My first Maryland button
and the other turned out to be a beautiful Confederate flower kepi button with an iron shank! The Maryland does have a push and no shank and has some ground action but it is my first Confederate button of the year!!! I posted both front and back pictures of both buttons below. Devonrex
