Where's The Wheaties?---Where's The Silver?
Here's something to think about. Let's take a look at pennies 1st. In the 70's, over 78 billion were minted and in the 80's over 92 billion. Then there was 1982 in which 16.7 billion cents were made. Now look at the year totals combined for 1909 to 1947 which equals 16.7 billion. That's 38 years of wheaties to only 1 year of memorials.
In the 80's over 15 billion clad dimes were minted. From 1946 to 1964 only 6.5 billion silver dimes were made.
I just used the figures for the 2 most found coins. They're still out there, but I don't think there are as many as a lot of people think. That's why most only find a couple of older silver and a small handful of wheaties. JMO Sorry, I don't mean to sound like a pessimist, I just think they're in areas that are easily overlooked or in private yards.
