Looking at the pic, the flow goes South to North. Where would you start looking according to this pic?

Where ever there is and inside bend. The two on the right and left of the big bend on the north. The one to the southeast of the right north bend and on the bend to the southwest where it flows east and west. Also look up on the benches for gravel beds left during flooding and changing river channals.

Good Luck!

Looking at the picture, it's rather hard to see specific detail. For instance, is there a steep drop in the river? Are there cliffs or exposed bedrock? If there are cliffs or exposed bedrock, does the river get choked down as it runs through a narrow gap? If so, check where the river widens after it emerges from a narrow run--the gold will drop there. If there are rapids of any kind, check where the river slows after the rapids. The tip on the inside bends is always a good one too.

Good luck, and all the best,

Lanny

I wouldn't prospect anywhere from looking at your picture, it's just not enough information to risk taking my time. All I see is what might be a place where water flows or once flowed.

Let's look at this from a more logical perspective.

Is this a known gold bearing region?

Is there local geology that might support enough of the right kind of mineralization to produce gold?

Are potential gold or valuable mineral deposits going to be found in hard rock form or placer deposits?

If any of the above prove to be promising - is it legal to prospect there?

Is this private land, county land, state land, federal land, a toxic waste dump?

Are there already mineral claims here?

Those are just the beginning questions I would want answered before I would go to the trouble of putting my boots on to get out of my office and into my truck to prospect any area.

If you can answer enough of those questions to show that we aren't wasting time answering questions about a sandy swamp on private land in Florida I'd be happy to give you my opinion on the little I can see on that picture.

Limited information presented leads to answers based on nothing more than uninformed opinions. Give us some background information worth considering and you will find there are many knowledgeable people here willing and even eager to help you discover the answer to your question.

Blow the map up the best ya can .. T will help you get a better answer..
But for the most part gold is going to take the shortest path like inside of the corners ..it not that it doesn't flow on the out side but it's more likely to blow on down the river because of curent .now the inside of the corners the curent is much slower and gold is more likely to fall out of the curent ..!
Hope that helps ya also elevation changes and behind large boulders any thing that interups the flow of the water and causes eddies !

Agree with all of above. I have used Google Earth in my prospecting area for places to explore. With that said, if you have the answers to those questions, two spot stick out as worth further investigating. Look at the two oxbows, looks like a rock slide or something has changed the water flow. The old steam once flowed across the oxbow. Where the small stream joins the larger one is worth a look.
Good luck!
