Where to vacation in the Caribbean

Looking to spend 7-8 days on an island somewhere in the Caribbean. I will be bringing the wife along so I will need a decent beach resort for her to hang out at. The reason I am asking here and not Travelocity, is I am hoping someone could point out some cool dive areas, and possibly some good museums. I would like to avoid Jamaica as I lived there for a short while when I was younger.

Any help would be appreciated.

AZ,
If you want to dive on a privateer from the 1600's, that is in Antiqua, e-mail me off line.
Your wife can stay at Hawks Bill Resort, which is right near the wreck. You can actually snorkle to some of the cannons from the beach.

If you are going to do a week in the Caribbean get a chartered boat! It's really not than expensive compared to a lot of the resorts.
Why settle for one place when you can hit 10 or so.

Why don't you try the Cayman Islands there is some of the best diving there. On one of the sister islands named "Little Cayman" there is a place called the bloody bay wall there is coral all the over the place and old anchors logged into the reef. Bloody bay was a pirate hang out.

I have to agree with T.H. I own a dive operation on Grand Cayman and the diving here is top knotch. There are a few very reasonable accomidations near the capitol George Town. You might try Harbor View. It's owned by an elder Caymanian lady named Rose. Great shore diving and snorkeling from the property. Also, many wrecks surrounding the island. Many acessable from shore.
