Where to start?

If your new to the hobby hit the schools and the parks and be sure to fill your holes like you were never there. Find a chunk of woods where activity was present in the past and try digging everything if you need practice identifying targets with your detector. Doesn't cause any eye sores and is very low key for the busy bodies that like to complain. Go at off times on the highly traveled areas. Good luck!

It is my belief it's best to start in your own yard learning your machine and practicing digging and more importantly filling holes. Then graduate to doing research and asking permissions. Welcome to the hobby and happy hunting!

I agree with CladGrabber!
Back yard finds to date:
Men's 14k gold ring
1941 Mercury Dime
Two Wheat pennies 1940-1941
1917 Paul Jones Four Roses Whiskey Cap!
Best of Luck!
