✅ SOLVED Where the heck did this go on a Ford?!

My buddy found this VERY HEAVY item. The chrome is still lustrous and it weighs a ton. (Penny for scale) You swing the Ford Oval aside and there is a keyhole so I assume it went on a trunk. We thought maybe a hubcap lock for an exterior spare, but there's no way to attach it to the spare that we can see. The back is full of cast iron. So funny that today, everything is made so light to save fuel. If this is a trunk latch escutcheon, it weighs as much as the seats in a mini-cooper!
