Forget hunting playgrounds within the City of Bell parks or schoolgrounds...all are covered with 4 to 6 inches of bonded rubberized safety surfacing...
Don't even think about hunting in the parks...they are patrolled by a task force of mothers...and if you even look like you are a wee bit hinky...you might become a guest in the local Grey Bar Hotel...
The only possible site is the Prichard Baseball Field which will be demolished within the next 6 months or so...Prichard Field is from the 1930's or so... which started out as a sand lot...located at the intersection of Walker and Florence Avenues...
Be extremely careful...this is a hispanic gang territory and is heavily patrolled...
By the way, the City of Bell is about 20 miles inland from the beaches...so that's not an option...
Welcome aboard Huntfan. I guess your new to detecting, if so the best place to start is in your own yard get to know your machine real well and learn how to dig a target without damaging or scratching it. When you branch out try the local soccor fields Debs park and the municipal. The train right of ways like up along Randolph sometimes dole out weird stuff thou not usually valueable. Neighbors or relatives yards are good to if you have them in your area . As stated and as you know it can be a tough area but the stuff you find is were you find it and if someone could tell you where it is then they would have gotten it for themselves already. Watch were local workers may sit on a lawn and eat lunch, good place to search for pocket spills. Lawns adjacent to fast food joints were the school kids hang out may produce. Any time you see concrete or asphalt being removed try to search that area as it hasn't been checked since before the hardscape was poured. Ask the older folks that have been around where they hung at you may learn about long forgotten places. Good luck, Buena Suerta, Urb
