Oh, if it were only that easy! There have been several gold mining operations in Washington back in the heyday. Some still going on. (We used to go camping in the hills and mountains of eastern Washington, and saw several boarded up with warnings.) Try local libraries, museums. Bureau of Mining Operations may be able to help you.

As far as coins, gems, etc., your best bet is probably right here on the forum. Go to the Washington State forum and check for fellow TH'ers in your neck of the woods.
