South Street, South Street. Okay it's an old song and I'm dating myself but hey, I like the way I look.

A few of you guys have been out this way and seen the sidewalk work. Well it was like detecting on top of a 36" oil pipeline trying to hit the coin under those sidewalks, but it's all good. Curb cuts were better for detecting, wide, deep and easy to reach.

So they started cutting them parkways. Only got in a hour today so only got a block done. Gotta sleep in for this nights work is yet to come. Met a fella there who wants to start using his XLT but is time challenged with work and all, told him if he sees any of you guys there to mosy up and join in for a mentoring and group think. Not sure how much time I'll get in there but Bob, it's your kind of digs!

Anyway, don't know what that medallion is, looks like a fat dude wearing a curtain and paddling a canoe with a gnome on his shoulder. I think Litefire knows what the head/tails token is but the pic is not too clear. One of the kids on the block tried snatching up the '36 merc as soon as it popped out of the ground, but he gave it up when I sent the local girls after him. Only one IH so far on that block, four wheats, two mercs and a pocketful of clad which you shall never see.

Hey, last week I won a 100 dollar debit card at work. So the third shift gets pizza tomorrow night!

Re: Where do all the hippies meet?

Hurry down, baby she's the hippest street in town! ;D

Nice digs there, Tim!!!

Hang on to that nudie token. They're really good in trade - just ask John! ;D

Re: Where do all the hippies meet?

Whoa! Nudie tokens!!!! I'll be there at 5am tomorrow. :laughing7:

Nice score on the oldies Tim!!

The pendant figure look like its holding a scepter to me.

Re: Where do all the hippies meet?

Great diggs buddy!!!! :hello2:

Re: Where do all the hippies meet? Again

Had an hour this morning so I hit the next block, it's gonna be a busy weekend...

I think the arrowhead FOB is from the old Song of Hiawatha show out at Camp Big Timber, God Bless Carl Parlasca!
http://elginpostcards.tripod.com/Hiawatha_song of.htm

They're starting the bigger curb cuts on the south side of the street today.

Ah gee, the '23 wheatie, need Joe's help on getting that one turned back a year. Show me that secret handshake Joe! Eh, maybe the next one.

I think the key is an old Chrysler Culture relic, had one just like it once. Better start showing up on the tally thread, now that I've shown y'all 5 silvers for the year! Makes me an ace!

Thing is, every one of these finds was very near or next to a dug spot that had to have happened since yesterday morn so someone showed up, or not. Depends on you look at it. Oh yeah, more vendoteria fodder too.

Re: Where do all the hippies meet? Again

Damn you Tim,,, I haven't been able to get this song out of my mind for 2 days now.

Hey I know I said I'd be there at 5am, but it wasn't me bud. If it was, you would of dug a bunch of seeded nudie tokens.

Great arrowhead fob! Silver too! Oh yeah.....

Got another hour in this afternoon. Yep, as suggested proof has been found that hippies did, or do indeed, meet on South Street. As you can see in the pic, I found a pendant that does indeed say "ire" which was a primary hippie emotive response to most thinigs they didn't understand.

Oh yeah, another shiny also. And an IH!

Hey man, that over-generalization you make really raises my ire. That jive sounds like it comes from a square. Not deep. I need to go get trippy now.
Peace out man

Sorry, I mixed up my relics! I think the ire pendant is Pontiac Culture, while the small button with the circled lines is from you groovy hooligans of yesteryear. I think it symbolized lunch at the Y, or something like that.

FAR OUT MAN

Where was I during all this?
Oh yeah... just like the 60's - it's all a blur and up in smoke...

And here I thought all the digging was done
but hey I can dig it

I'm out there man
way out there.

Great finds by the way!

Great digs Tim! It's about time you post some pictures of rockin' silver and indians. Usually we just hear the great stories and no pics.

Sorry, didn't mean to harsh your mellow man.

Eh? What's that? I expect to see you and/or your Pops up this way this weekend. I sent him the info and map of the projected work. You'll find my mellow is harsh-proof man, which beats being a harsh mellow man, me thinks.
