Treasure Coast (Vero Beach) to Sebastian
Detector(s) used
Sov Elite, CZ20, Minelab Sovereign XS, Explorer II, My eyeballs to bloody fingers have done me well also.
Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
I agree with Mackaydon & Chagy...but I think it may have had even more to do with the King's monogram than with just the Pillars of Hercules.

What is the date of this 1/2 reale posted when no date is present?
The piece came off the 1715 Wreck in Sebastian...there is a clue on finding the date, do you see it?

What is the date of this particular cob? The date is not visible but there is a clue...do you see it?

Re: Where did we obtain our $ sign and how to date this half.

the clue on that half real was the "1/2" actually showing next to the PvS...

If you find a 1/2 real from the 1715 Fleet showing this...
that tells you the date of the piece...
it would be 1715.
I have seen only 3 examples of this from these wrecks so far, the one pictured...Corrigan's.
