New to tnet. Detected for years I've found silver coins before but very little and very old. Like a 1907 barber dime and 1898 barber quarter. My question is, where can I find newer silver? Like silver Rosie's and silver washingtons. Like pre 1964 but not much older than the 50's or 40's (not as scarce as 1800's silver) I see ppl dig up a merc or Rosie or silver Washington from like 1960 every day like it's easy as pie. It's a lot easier apparently to find a 1964 Rosie than an 1898 barber quarter so where would I most likely find newer silver coins at? I just can't seem to find Andy silver coins from 1910-1964 I love finding old silver it's just really rare. Id love to dig a little bit newer silver more often. Just the thrill of seeing a silver rim come from the dirt is thrilling. Any tips would be nice to have. Like what places should I look for the best chance at silver change Heck Id be more than happy with a 1964 dime or quarter. -Texas treasure hunter

Good luck on your search and post up pics of your finds :)...

I have had luck at schools and parks that were active from the 1920s onward. I also have luck at houses (or lots that had houses) built before 1960.

I have only dug one Barber (1903 dime), first silver I dug and still the oldest silver, out of a total of 29 silvers. IMO, those Barbers are way cooler than the Rosies and Washingtons. The newer coins should be easier to find... if someone has not beaten you to them.

GL&HH!

True the barbers are my favorite I just would like to find some silver Rosie's and washingtons bc I haven't found any of those yet and it should be a pinch easier than my barbers were to find I would think haha There's a untouched school spot I've been to once from 1930-1970 and got a gold ring there I hope to go back and find a silver or two!

From the 1980's as detectors have gotten much better, almost all easily accessible areas have been heavily hunted and "cherry picked" for silver coins.
You'll have a better chance to find 1940 - 1963 silver if you can research an area heavily used but not heavily hunted. Way easier said than done but that's
the way it is. Old private properties are the best opportunity if you can get permission. Check with all your old relatives and maybe you can get some referrals.

Look for a housing development built after the troops came home from WW2, ask for permissions in those neighborhoods.

15 min down the road there is an entire neiborhood that ran from the 40's to the 80's but it's mostly broken grassy roads and woods. No more houses or civilization back there, I'm the only person that really ventures back there. All I ever find is wheaties from the 30's to 50's and a bunch of memorials 60's and 70's and trash trash trash. Some areas more than others. Think silver is out there somewhere? Soon as it gets cold that's where ill spend a lot of time. I'll be posting my finds titled "navy houses"

Some areas I go to I get the feeling after awhile that it seems as if the "good stuff" is already gone. Darn cherry pickers. I'm always on www.historicaerials.com tho looking for places. I find a lot mostly private but doesn't hurt to ask sometimes.
