Short 2-hour wood hunt. . . gotta wait until spring
until the vegetation thins out.

Anyway . . . got a sweet signal in one of the backwater
sloughs that had dried out and pulled up a ladies' wallet
that had been there since at least 1986. And how do I
know it's been there that long? That's when her Driver's
License was due to expire

No money, just TONS of credit cards :o Either her husband
got fed up and pitched it in the woods OR, some foul play
may have been involved. . . (I hope it wasn't the latter)

I'll drop it off to the local police over the weekend and let
them return it.

SO. . . on my way OUT of the woods, I did find an Indian
that was hiding along the edge of the grove

Good luck the weekend!

Funny, all the wallets I find are empty.

Maybe she lost it, maybe it was stolen, relieved of its cash & pitched. For a while, years ago (back then) the hottest thing in the wallets to grab was the cash. The wallets & purses with all the credit cards got pitched out the window or in the nearest trash can so nothing traceable was on the offender in case he was stopped.

Now the hottest things are the credit cards, checks and ID's. How criminals have evolved...

I'm glad you found an Indian artifact!

Well she had good taste at least. I can see the old Dominick's and Marshall Fields cards peeking out.
Two of my fondest childhood memories, going to the original Dominick's on North Ave, just west of Harlem, with the huge conveyor of freshly baked cookies coming out of the oven that you could sample as you walked by. And Marshall Fields downtown at Christmas with the guy playing the grand piano in there. We would ride our bikes over to the Maurice Lenell Cookie factory about twice a week for samples. Now I've got the munchies. :laughing7:

Sweet Injun Mark!

Great finds!!!!

Wow! I'm thinking the paper would have kinda washed out by now if it was there that long. Still looks good for being there that long!

I've found two rules apply for lost/stolen wallets over the years. Kids wallets are always lost, with cash in them and no ID, adults wallets are always lost with ID and no cash. Stolen wallets have only useless ID in them such as library cards or the like when found.
