This has been a strange summer in many ways. It certainly has been strange ( in a good way) when it comes to finding shoe buckles. I headed out into the woods yesterday for a quick hunt, and decided to return to an area that produced a couple of British half pennies earlier this year. My first decent signal turned out to be another shoe buckle!
After another 30 minutes, I came across a nice high tone. When I popped it from the ground, it was small, thin, and silver. For a second, I thought it might be a reale...but no such luck. Turned out to be a 1917 Merc. Nice!
Below is a pic of three buckles that I have been fortunate enough to find over the past five weeks. I'm eager to see what else the ground will give up for the remainder of the summer.
Thanks for looking. Good hunting to all!
