im with u rockhopper...as a matter of of fact i have found out that there r serveral 1820 home sites along a stretch of the river that i fish that i am working on getting permisson to detect...may fish a little in spring then park boat for some detecting if fish aint bitin

Stripes up and down instead of sideways means it is a muskie.
Muskie my friends, All the fish were killed in the French Broad river years ago and all the fish were replanted. The muskie get very large here. Also the river is world class small mouth fishin. If anyone is up here lets go out and play.

I have always wanted to do that in this little river down the road.only problem is I don't have a boat, and the only person I know with a john boat never wants to do anything. We have gone fishing a few times, and we have talked about fishing and hunting the banks, but never have. it is hard enough just to get the ol- boy to go fishing.I think he doesn't like having to get out the boat to go over and around beaver dams and trees.I should cut him some slack thow ,he is a older guy,but to me it is a blast.

Yeah nice catch alot of people don't believe it but we actually have them here in the PA rivers. I've caught about 3 of them the past few years about 13+ inches not to bad if i must say.

I usually hook into a couple of them every year here in central Pa. Im usually rigged light for trout or smallies, so it don't last long. Snap and their gone.I did have one on a couple yrs ago that drug my kayak around for a minute or two, but then....snap. When I specifically fish for them and rig properly, I can't find them. But that's how that works.
I remember once (30 yrs ago) while camping at Raystown, a muskie came into shallow water near the campsite at dusk. It kept swimming on top with its head out of the water. My buddies and I (with a good buzz on) grabbed weapons and attacked. We had a piece of firewood, cast iron skillet, and a mountain pie iron. Needless to say all we got was wet and a good laugh. Oh yeah, and some weird looks from the neighboring campers who didn't see the water wolf.
