Found my first wheat penny today! 1946. Releasing that from the ground was so exhilarating. It ain't much compared to other finds folk have reported here. But it made me reflect on that year, the place I found it, ( a train station) . The romantic in me was thinking " Huh, 1946, maybe a soldier coming back from the war? Back to his childhood home in California, or maybe a farmer loading his crop of oranges headed for Union Station in Los Angeles? Who knows... A penny actually was worth something back then. My thought was to MD the station area in hopes to find older coins, it worked! Finding coins at a place that has been around a while is just that much cooler. Any way I probably should not
have cleaned it up, but I thought it would be cool to see it as it was in 1946 all shiny ready to be spent!
I also hit a park and found the usual assortment of coinage... But getting a Wheatie before breakfast, fantastic!
