Metal Detecting
I found this last summer. I was detecting on some torn up sidewalk on a path to the beach, but wasn’t finding much. After a while of only find tinfoil and the occasional memorial or shield back, I Decided to head down to an area on the beach where a portion of an old house fell down due to erosion. On my first wheat penny. I was excited. After Only finding trash, this was a great find. I decided to detect longer, and found about ten more. I eventually just decided to go through the mound of sand with my pin pointer. About 5 wheat pennies later, I pulled what I thought was a heavy short pipe out of the sand. On closer inspection, I saw the words: “ one hundred cigaretteten” I grew curious and shook it. I about had a heart attack when I heard jingling metal inside! I took it home and hit it gently with a hammer and wheats pennies spilled out, including four steel ones. This is by far my favorite thing I have ever found!!! 82B7009A-887B-4B48-9660-B533A1EBB522.jpeg

Nice. Wouldn't you like to know the story behind them?

That is fantastic. Better even than silver in some ways....

I’ve found the occasional coin spill, but never a cache. A great save. Your persistence paid off.

They’re relatively new. 1930’s to 1950’s

Thats a fun find and a good collection for you. I found a container under a tree root full of pennies but they were all memorial errr Good job hope you find some more. Tommy
