W,

just about everywhere. Think they are
just not that old; they still show up in
pocket change. Think I have gotten
three or four in change this year.

have a good un............

i would say every second trip out i find one. i still consider them a keeper, but its hard to get exited about one anymore. maybe if they are 1920 and older.

I still get a smile when finding a Wheatie though when I started I thought they were rare. Now I hardly ever find Indian heads.

I've found about a few this year ;D I think they're more abundant at old homesites than at public places.

Finding wheat pennies

...yep, I find them still, usually about every trip out. Maybe 2 out of 3.
I still remember my first ones and how excited I was. I can show you even now where it was. I still say, "Cool," whenever I find one, although the excitement is mellowed.

But they are a signal for a shift in method:
1. Slow down
2. Overlap sweeps
3. Bump up the SENS a notch or two.

I find them regularly too. Even though I have several thousand of them that weren't dug, every dug one brings a smile to my face. I stepped out the door a few months ago and found four in the same hole not 5 feet from my doorstep!

This is my first year of detecting and before I ever found one I thought that I would love finding them. Now I find them all the time. 438 wheats for me so far this year. Yeah, you could say I'm tired of them now, haha. But my goal is to hit 500 of them this year.

I have been reading posts here for quite some time, thought I would join in. I have been swing a Prizm V for 2 years, the beginning of my metal detecting career. Since that time I have gone to a local fair grounds that has been active for at least the last 75 years. Ihave never dug a wheat back, have however found -1- indian head at a different location.

I still find them but what kills me is the memorials I find 4 to 5 inches down in the ground. The wheats are sometimes only a few inches down. Go figure.

Now that's really odd. You probably don't have your machine programmed correctly or you are hunting in fill dirt. Just dig the deep signals and stop digging the clad and you will start digging the old coins.
