Hi There! Finally saw something I could identify. The camel is a small plate that fits in a cookie press to make cookies. The cookies would come out in the shape of a camel. LOL...:-)

Yeah, that's what I thought when I found it.

The silver looking piece looks like a cufflink and the piece above the penny in the middle, I think I remember somebody saying that was a piece of a musical instrument. (maybe an accordian?) I'm not really sure.

Thanks big cypress hunter and evolution for your id`s, they must have stamped the cookie dies that were available at the time with a number.

Modern miner thought the copper piece just above the penny was a reed of some sort.

Accordian Reed: http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php/topic,147570.0.html

Fancy Rivet: Someone just posted a few of those...

Top of aluminum/lead toothpast type tube

Piece of bracelet? ???

Mini aluminum spoon... I dig one and have seen them here too. Either part of playsets or maybe for spices?

And of course that camel cookie press thing... Excellent ID Loralie!!!

Montana Jim is right about the accordion reed and the decorative rivet. Here's a picture of the same rivet as yours i dug a while back. Also look closely near the base of the accordion reed, near the straight edged part and there should be a letter designating what "key" it's in..nice finds!!

The accordion reed could actually be a concertina reed...same principle as an accordion but smaller and less expensive. These things are surprisingly common finds. Maybe a lot of people were getting frustrated trying to play them and finally just smashed them against the wall.

concertina's were quite popular as musical items along withharmonicas for playing "in camp" during the civil war --being small and easy to tote around made both of them popular choices.

saudi arabian camels -- are called "dromedary" or one hump camels ---they have annual camel races in saudi arabia and bet heavily upon them ---- they also have a "beauty" contest for the camels yearly there the winner netting about equal to $500,000 -- yes a half a million dollars

the bactrian or two hump camels est at 1.4 million world wide are just about total domesticated -- a mere 350 wild ones live in mongolia and china

Bigcypresshunter thanks and i got enough from the reply`s to make me want some of this for my very own.
Bob dug this as well as the cookie cutter
Let me know if you want them back Bob.

The accordian reed does in fact have a C on it.
I wonder if it was middle C ::)

Ivan, Bob did mention something about the saudi`s assisting the cival war effort on camels :icon_jokercolor:

garyf, where did you say i should take this token :P

Thanks for your efforts Loralie and Montana Jim.

Thanks for looking everyone.

I saw plenty of camels running loose in the desert in Libya when I was stationed in a remote site in the service. But I don't think any of them were ever humped? Too tall! M ;D nty
