Where are the other pictures of this identical item... or, who posted the previous question?

If someone could find the pics, I'll contact someone who may be able to help...

I'm thinking guy rope thinggy...

Guy rope; a rope attached to the apex, roof edge or wall bottom edge which is used to hold the tent in a rigid position. Guy ropes are provided with single, double or triple point attachment to the tent.

I've sent pics to the Butte Montana Mining musium to see if they have ANY idea what it is.

MY guess is this...

Its kinda large for that, maybe on a circus tent or-- yes perhaps on a tarp to cover Cotton, while stored outside or being barged down the river, Thats the best I have heard so far, its 11 1/4" long and 2 1/2" wide at the wide end.

I think they are on the right track with the "hold-down strap" theory... Possibly attached to a wagon or a barge. Here is a modern version:

This port was rarley reached by steam boat, and was used mainly to barge cotton down to a larger port, so they would build barges here, load em, and ship them down river. so I think that was likley what the cooper was for. Thanks, Albert
