I thought it looked like an ice tool as well just never saw one with a solid plate like structure. Usually they are pick like. I have seen ones like these as well.

Looks hand made out of an old rasp.

My thought was a handle to some type of pump.Like a bilge pump.

Because of the shape of the handle on top, which to me looks as if it was designed to be grasped and turned to make adjustments, my first thought is that it was used to tighten cables - I don't know what you would call it - something that would be used to create tension..a tensioner?? I hope I didn't just make that up :laughing7: One last thought..since you are in PA, could this be something mining related?

Possibly the upper part of a broken shovel. Curious about the thickness and pattern on metal.

That's what I'm thinking deldave. Looks like a shovel or something that was repurposed. The pattern in the metal is throwing me off though. Seems like I have seen that before....somewhere....

Ok....my best guess is a handmade rocking blade knife or cobbler's round knife.....obviously made/repurposed from another tool.....lol!

Definitely hand forged and hammered out of a farriers rasp.

Looks like a home made pick that with the reverse angle would have been use as a lever to pry against.

Obviously homemade, maybe something to clean out or enlarge a crevice while panning for minerals in a stream ?
