That's not a bad set of goals. I try to carry out twice as much trash as coins for one. The other is to take the time to enjoy the view.

When I'm lucky I can get a half day in. Usually it's a couple hours here and a couple hours there. Once or twice a week. If I find more than zinc pennies I'm happy.

The last few months, I've been happy just to get out at all with the weather. I have been out a few time this weekend and last, so thats been good. I try to come home with a pile of coins, which I make sure to show the wife so I can prove my ACE250 is paying itself back, lol! My ultimate good day would be to come home with a coin with a date that starts with a 17. And ditto hauling out the trash - gotta leave it better than it was before you showed up!

I agree, just getting out there is a good day. Haven't been able to detect since December because of the snow. I used the winter to research. I now have over 20 old home sites scoped out for my summer detecting. Most date to the late 1800's.

My idea of the perfect day is when I find a new old place to go . Then me and my brother get out there and double team it and compare our little treasures at the end .

I feel pretty lucky to just find something interesting, old coin, trinket, ring, token, etc... If all I find is clad & pull tabs, I'm kinda disapointed, but I still try to have a good time regardless...

A good day of hunting for me is when Bobbie is finding lots of stuff, the reason being is simple if she is making finds we will stay longer at a site, then I can concentrate on grid hunting
