What's up with my scoop?

Got a scoop from Reilly's Treasured Gold, came out the box all shiny and ready to go. I used it for ONE DAY this weekend for a good 4 hours on the beach and now the coating on the scoop seems to be coming off...no abuse or anything was done, I worked it in both dry and wet sand. Has anybody else had their scoops turn out like this after use or is it just me?

Salt or freshwater? If it's stainless steel it didn't need to be coated in the first place.

They are all that way. They spray them with gray paint to cover up the discolored welded areas. Its a tool, it don't need to be pretty to get the job done, just needs to be pretty to sell. :laughing7:

yeah, I was just curious to see if it was common or just me. I will still use it either way lol

Like you said it is a tool and as long as it gets the job done!

thank you both for your comments!

Not all scoops are that way. My Stealth 720i is true stainless, gussets, welds, and all. No lipstick on this pig! :laughing7:

I meant the RTGs.

I have an RTG scoop and it's the same! It's just a coating of paint over the darkened welded area as lookindown said.

Mine is like that where I stand on it. The gray paint doesn't stick too well to the stainless steel.
