I would say they have been rolling around in a clothes dryer. I could be wrong.

Looks like normal wear and tear but I am not too good with errors.

I believe it is from die deterioration, pretty common and no added value.

Yup, usually referred to as "late die state". The dies are generally used until they break. They get cleaned and polished from time to time which adds to the wear. The sharp details they had when new, are gradually worn away, causing many features to blur together.
