What's the deepest you've dug a coin?

Have you ever found coins deeper than two feet below the surface?

I think the vast majority of honest diggers will say 10" to 12" or so would be their max. Any other claim is most likely BS...

I found a walking liberty half 2 weeks ago........just shy of a foot deep, under a root. I wouldn't want to dig deeper, too much work in the sand down here.

No BS here. In the Oronoco ,Mn. park I was detecting the woods on a hillside that may have been bulldozed at one time.I had went over this area with the Whites DFX once and now I was using the Minelab Etrac. I got three different targets,three different holes were dug. The depth gauge on the Etrac was bottomed out. I was digging in sandy soil and I carefully took the dirt out of each hole to get a good idea how deep it would be. Each coin Indian Head Cents was 14 inches deep. At a park in Rochester,MN. I dug 3 coins wheat cents and Indian Head Cents and they were 14 inches deep. Now I dug carefully and measured the depth and an other park I got an Indian Head at 10 inches.
The deepest coin I dug with the DFX was a Mercury Dime at ten inches in a park that had fill brought in .
Let me say I've been thinking of going back to the DFX because I hate digging that deep with a small digging tool and it takes about 15 minuets.

On the beach, it's possible to get 1.5 ft. deep with various machines. Especially some of the high-powered pulse beach machines. And a Sov/Wot combo can probably do a penny to 14", and a quarter to perhaps 1.5 ft. as well. But on land, where a bit of disc. is needed (to at least nix iron), I can't think of very many land spots where someone would be at liberty to try to go to those depths.

If someone cared to take a minelab gpx 5000 to the beach, he might even get a coin to nearly 2 ft. deep. But .... that would be insane. Because every frickin' little birdshot or staple would "ring the bells of Notre Dame" too.

Set right and in certain dirt and sand ... 15 inches.

Have you ever thought of getting a post hole digger. It crossed my mind a few times.

Last week I dug a 1960's copper penny at 10" with my CTX..

This weekend was my deepest dig for a coin. Over 12" at the beach with my CTX and an 11" coil....clad quarter. Sand kept filling in so not exactly sure how deep.

I found an 1803 Large Cent at around 8" in the woods. Coins do not go that deep where I am, I have found colonial coppers just under the surface.

1879 Morgan dollar @ 14 inches with the CTX. 1864 2cent piece and 1863 Indian about 10 inches with the DFX.

I find coins frequently on the beach at 14-18" with my xcal 8". Sucks pretty good in Miami sand. Hole collapses nonstop on itself. Lol.

Clad quarters on the AMI beaches easy 12-18" no problem some would have been deeper but I don't carry a tape measure. In measured depth 14" for a LC and 14" for a Cartwheel the LC was a faint signal, the Cartwheel was a stronger signal. Dug IH pennies in Sutton Park Plametto Fl. 11" but that was with the info from a 1960's era detectorist saying go dig right over there and you dig IH pennies, but they'll be deep.
